Memorial Day Parade

Join the Library staff, Friends of the Library and your neighbors as we walk with our entry in the annual Memorial Day Parade. This year we are distributing bubble-making solution. Parade route: Dixie Highway from Sashabaw Road to Walton Blvd./Williams Lake Road. Our entry can be found in Section 2 in the staging area at Burke Lumber. Please arrive by 9:00a and come dressed for the weather that morning. The Library will provide cold water for our walkers. Note that parking is available at streets & parking lots north of Dixie Highway but not along the parade route. Hope we see you there!

Learn to Meditate

This six week program beginning Monday June 5 offers a simple set of relaxation and meditation exercises, which when practiced daily, help restore balance in life, manage stress, better your health, and mos of all will lead you to inner calm and peace. Ideally, all participants should attend all sessions. Participants will be meditating in chairs. Those wishing to meditate while sitting on the floor may bring their own floor cushions. The entire program will be conducted by certified Heartfulness Institute trainers, who have been meditating and training for several years.
The six dates are Mondays June 5, 12, 19, 26 and July 10 and 17.

Used Books Drop-off Day

The Library accepts donations of used books on the second Saturday of the month. Items can be dropped off in the Library's Community Room from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a five box (or bag) limit. While we appreciate your generosity, there are some items that we do not accept. These include:

First half of meeting will be hands-on experience caring for the Children's Sensory Garden. Bring your gardening gear. 

The second half will be an educational presentation on a topic of interest to the group. Topic: Butterflies in the Garden. Presenter: Brenda Dzdiezic 

Brenda is the author of "Learn About Butterflies in the Garden", owner of Brenda's Butterfly Habitat, a Co-founder and past president of Southeast Michigan Butterfly Association (SEMBA), a Monarch Watch Conservation Specialist for Monarch Watch, a member of Association For Butterflies (AFB), North American Butterfly Association (NABA), and Wildflower Association of Michigan (WAM). She is an Advanced Master Gardener and was awarded "Master Gardener of the Year 2007" for Wayne County by Michigan State University Extension. 

The purpose of the Library Garden Club is to offer members an opportunity to develop their gardening knowledge and skills. Participation will be a combination of informational presentations and hands-on experience. Janet Macunovich, master gardener, and designer of our new Children's Sensory Garden, is committed to this group and this project. She is a presenter at many meetings and serves as "crew chief" for the projects currently in development as well as those we will create as time, talent and funding allow. No cost to participate beyond your time and efforts at work bees in the gardens on Library grounds. 

Meets monthly, generally on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
